Asunción

The Assumption of Mary on 15 August celebrates the Catholic and Orthodox belief that the Virgin Mary was taken body and soul into heaven at the end of her earthly life. It is a public holiday in many European and Latin American countries, often marked by church services, processions and, falling at the height of summer, family gatherings.
