Fiesta del Eid Fitr

Eid al-Fitr, the 'Festival of Breaking the Fast', marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. It falls on the first day of Shawwal in the Islamic lunar calendar, so the Gregorian date shifts about 11 days earlier each year and can vary by a day depending on moon sighting. Muslims attend special congregational prayers, give charity (zakat al-fitr), share festive meals and visit family.
