About this holiday
New Year's Day marks the first day of January in the Gregorian calendar and is a public holiday in most countries around the world. It is a day of new beginnings, often celebrated with fireworks, family gatherings, resolutions for the year ahead, and a recovery day after late-night celebrations of New Year's Eve.
